I'm a first-time RV owner. I bought a Winnebago 170 XL. I read in the Owner's Supplement that a new vehicle or a vehicle that has been stored for some time should have the potable water supply sanitized and refilled. They just don't happen to mention how I should drain the tank. I've been under it (just a cursory look) and I can't seem to find any drain plug. Any help out there in RV-land? Rich and Linda

The water lines out of the tank will probably have a 'lowest point' drain to aide in winterizing. Open this valve and the tank should drain. You can also turn on your pump and drain water into sink, shower, or toilet to help flush your holding tanks also.

Look up your RV on Winnie's site. They will have a plumbing schematic for your model. If they do not, send an email to customer support and they will send it to you.
You will likely have a small notice somewhere on the wall which will say "Low Point drain" or words to that effect. With a B the water tank is likely under a couch or dinette and the pump is likelly next to it. On the water line near the pump you should see either a ring which can be tugged up to open the drain or a valve which you can twist or turn to open the drain. It's likely quite small. You might also see a small lever or valve on the inlet side of the tank which should be opened to allow air in. Water will not drain out unless air can get in to replace it. Of course you can remove the cap outside to allow air in also.
Once you have drained the tank I'd suggest dumping in a liter or 2 or javex, fill it with water and take it for a drive. Then drain the tank, fill and drain 3 times and then dump in a gallon of vinegar to totally remove the javex taste. It's a days work to clean it thoroughly but at least it will be sterile and safe (for a while anyway). Best of luck.
