We ordered our van in April, had it drop shipped to Indiana and this weekend we pick it up!!! Years of camping: sleeping bags & lean-to's, air mattresses & tents, then to vans, for an unaccountable number of years, and now finally our new Sportsmobile!!! Gonna be a B!!! Waited what seems like an eternity to say that. Just had to tell the world and boast a bit. See ya down the road.

Congratulations. Similar story. Quit drinking at 37, started hiking when I quit smoking at 42, climbed some serious mountains (Aconcagua the most serious), did some 400 to 600 mile thru-hikes, turned 71 and the knees don't have it any more.

Would have loved a Sportmobile, absolutely loved it, not in the budget. Got an older Intervec which was given to me, and it's the next thing to thru-hiking. I think it's biggest use may be to drive 100 or 2000 miles to hike, and then not have to drive home. Take a shower, have a hot meal, watch a movie or read a book, scratch the dog's ears and off to sleep.

I think you made a couple of wise choices.

Got our Sportsmobile and because of budget restraints and lifestyle we simplified it. Cut out the fridge, sink and stove. Storage, storage, storage. Live out of the cooler(s), cook over the open fire, but do have a microwave. And still wasn't cheap. But being able to standup - priceless!!!
