Fuel in Water after tow???

Our water now has a strong smell of gas. Ran some into a glass this morning and you can see and smell gas. We just replaced the fuel pump last week and it was towed into repair shop. Not sure how gas would get into water tank? Any opinions or knowledge of how this could happen?

Repair shop added gasoline to fresh water tank, perhaps thinking it was the fuel fill point.
Your entire fresh water plumbing system should be cleansed, then use a fresh water deodorant, like baking soda.

Wow that's weird but there is only one way gas could ever get into the into the RV water system and that's if it got put in the fresh water fill or through the city water hook-up.
