Well, I read the recall and as usual when decyphering Mercedes and now Winnebago literature, I have no idea what they are talking about. Where is the "overhead cabinet shelf"? I guess there are 5 overhead cabinets in my ERA, one over the settee, one over the galley unit and three over the beds. Just to which one are they referring. Anyone know?

Does this give you a clue? Sounds like it's a forward cabinet. Why not contact them and ask?

This morning I called Winnebago customer service, a very helpful gentleman confirmed that this is about the cabinet over the two front seats. He said that the screws holding the floor of the cabinet were working loose on some vehicles. Whew! My screws are tight and floor of cabinet is secure so I will get recall done at a convenient time, rather than as an emergency.

It does seem like an odd reason for a recall, but you know what happens.

Glad you're not in emergency mode over it.

Good luck.

Wonder why they added the brackets/screws? They could have gotten away with just the warning sticker.
Just kidding. Looks like an easy DIY, if you don't want to waste an hour in the waiting room, and the drive time to/from the dealer.

This cabinet and these screws? The part about the shelf detaching and the face falling is a bit confusing.

Well, glad I am not the only one confused. Picture on recent post helps as does location of the brackets, looks like they, are supporting the bottom shelf of the cabinet over the driver and passenger seats. Yes, I think you have answered "which screws" My cabinet is enclosed so that there is a vertical "face" with a door on the after edge of this cabinet. (The bottom one)
Will get repair appointment at Knoxville Mercedes dealership, over 120 miles away because work will be free and want to see the super fancy, deluxe facility, couldn't afford to pay for work there, an excuse to go.

As we are packing to head north today and my wife was a bit panicked about using the cabinet in question, I took a good look at things. It appears the face is attached to the bottom using a pin and lock mechanism like you see on much of the customer assembled furniture. There seem to be only two, one at each end. The extra brackets seem to attach from the inside on either side of the door providing a sure connection should the factory locks come loose. I tried to explain this in the picture, hope it makes sense. This is an easy DIY fix saving a trip to a dealer.
