van goes boom...trying to fix it

Hey all...just wondering of anyone has experienced anything like I did (check out my latest blog postings.

Long at short, anyone repaired their hightop? Mine is an okanagan model. The explosion rocked the back end and there is visible cracking back there...wondering if it can be fixed properly? I don't suspect it's a structural problem due to the way to top is mounted but just curious.

Hey thanks for your interest...I reached out to so many places that I forgot everywhere I posted.

I did survive the fire, got the van into Detroit (friends house)...van died on arrival, how I drove the 80miles from Toledo and the 100miles to body shops that would look at it I have no idea. After my last trip around the block it was feeling something horrible and then it didn't start a few minutes after that.

So...long story shortened...I scoured Detroit unsuccessfully....I hunted in Ontario but rejected a rusty bucket even though it was practically free...

And then I decided that coming home to Alberta would be best as any vehicle I bought would need t be registered in Alberta anyway. SO...I opened up Kijiji and low and behold...an identical twin to mine. So I took the train home from Windsor (awesome experience), arrived in Edmonton, phoned the guy who was in ST Paul...drove there...decided I liked it (95000km's, bought in 1997 and the original bill of sale from him shows 93500km's. 14years in a heated garage...it just needs some TLC and the hop up parts that are still on my van in Detroit.

So new van is ready, I am rolling out of Calgary tomorrow morning for Detroit, swap parts and then onto Savannah...

Searching for something....

It has been a roller coaster but it looks like I'm headed for the big dip and ready to throw my arms up screaming....weeeee!!!

We had a 1988 Okanagan 17', traded it in in 1998 for a Type C MH. Ours had the 460 and towing package, not much in the way of mpg, but it sure got to 70 in a hurry! Did put a Gearvendors OD in it, still got less that 10mpg.

If you need any mechanical work in Detroit, call Joel Hershoren at Curt's Service in Berkley. He kept an early 70's Dodge based Class C on the road for years (and I think someone at the shop still owns it).

Joel's card

If he can't help, I'm sure he can point you in the right direction.
