What's the chance that your Class B RV will last longer than you?
I'm in my late 60s, and my 2012 RT RS has less than 50,000 miles.
I'm told that a diesel typically can go 200,000 miles or more.
With proper maintenance and no rust issues in SoCal, the RV might have a longer service life than I do especially if it lasts another 15 years.
Even if I were to average 10,000 miles per year for the next 15 years ( twice the national average of 5,000 miles on an RV, it would still be pretty low mileage at 25 years.
Do you plan on keeping your RV long term or trading it for a newer vehicle?
Right now I'm thinking that it doesn't make financial sense to trade them in, just use them up and get your money's worth.
Despite the depreciation, which is only important if wanted to sell, the value and service from an asset like an RV greatly outweighs the cash in your hand.
What do you think?

I'd say it's highly subjective, yes and no, and, it depends.

I think you are typically looking at much more than a 200,000 mile service life out of any modern diesel. Having said that it is likely going to depend on how you care for it, particularly the house side, weathering alone will be a factor if it is stored outdoors. In addition to this you should also consider cost of ownership which depending on your circumstances can add up to several thousands of dollars per year once you count insurance, storage cost, preventive maintenance, etc.

Weathering will kill a coach a LOT faster than use. It will also cause damage that greatly exceeds the cost of mechanical repairs.
If at all possible, spring for a garage or pole barn to cover your unit, and run Power to the unit in order to keep A/C and the battery charger operating. Preventing a musty odor is critical to enjoying an RV, while having power to start and run things is part of the fun.

We use it as a 2nd vehicle anyway. We camp all year long. We have no plans to replace our beloved apartment.

What weather conditions are you talking about?
Vehicles don't rust in SoCal unless you live near the ocean.
It does get hot here in the summer, but, the humidity is pretty low compared to many other places.
