04 Air Tank Tether Questions

I had 1 of my air tanks replaced in Portland Oregon (I am home now) yesterday I went to bleed the air tanks using the 3 tethers in the passenger side wheel well and discovered that the forward one is gone and the 2 towards the rear 1 came off in my hand.

So I crawled under and looked at the rear of the tanks where the tethers were and discovered that the 2 tanks had a single cable hooked up to both bleeders and if I pulled on the 1 tether that was still inside the wheel well it just barely bled both tanks. My question is

Should there be 1 cable on each of tanks to pull so they can bleed? It looks they pull from the side. I think the guy who installed the new tank was lazy and thought his idea would work.

I didn't even look for the front one (YET)......

Is there a total of 3 tanks that need to be bled? I have a XC chassis

Thanks LeeB

When I bought my coach ( I'm the third owner ) the lanyards were still coiled up near the valves . So in the 11 years, prior to my purchase of the coach, the tanks had never been drained.
Took a while to route the cable , to avoid the mess of wiring and hoses , so that when pulled, the cables weren't wearing into one thing or another, and getting the correct direction of pull on one was a PIA.

My XC chassis has the three valves, your newer chassis may differ.
A call to Freightliner help line , with your serial number will get you the info your after . Ask them to e mail you an air system diagram for you records, and inquire about joining Access Freightliner, so you can go online and have access to wiring and parts info for your chassis.

EDIT: Caution do not open the valves if you're under the coach , the suspension could drop , always have the frame supported, with stands or blocking , if you go under the RV.
