I have been looking for info on enabling daytime running lights on my 04 Coachmen Cross Country in order to satisfy mandatory laws for vehicles imported into Canada. Thought I would pass along my experience. I suspect this is the same for most makes and models.

Most newer vehicles have the option for DRL. Check the fuse control box to see if there is a fuse/relay placement labeled DRL. You can contact your local Freightliner dealer and ask for the appropriate module.

In my case however, my local Freightliner dealer informed me that my particular model (I provided the VIN #) did not have that option. I then contacted the tech service folks at Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp , who advised me that it did indeed have the option and told me where to look (lower left of steering column) for the placement. They then gave me the part #SPW 1325F. I went down to my local Freightliner dealer and picked up the module. Cost was $46.68 CAN (taxes in). I have yet to install it, but have been told by FCCC techs it is "plug and play".

Hope this helps others.

For all questions about Freighliner Custom Chassis call 800-FTL-HELP for routine calls from Monday to Friday from 8 to 5pm.

The line is actually open 24/7 for Emergencies is you are in such a situation.

One other resource that will help you with parts and their placement is www.AccessFreightliner.com . You will have to sign up and get a username and password and then you have to login every so once in a while or the system will bounce you out.

I've tried several times to use Access Freightliner and can never get it to work. Either it won't accept my application or the password I choose doesn't work or it never gets me to anywhere there's any information. About have given up.

Wagonmaster2, Back to square 1, call 800-FTL-HELP and the tech will direct you to the appropriate IT person or procedure that will be able to help you.

If you have a valid 17 digit FCCC VIN# your application should be accepted however it may take up to a week for someone to get back to you with a password.

At Camp Freightliner they told us that if you don't login every so once in a while the system drops you. This is a corporate wide IT security feature that Daimler has in place.
