My 2005 Fleetwood on an XC refused to air up the air bags the other day. By flipping the switch and/or tapping the front ride height control valve (which was hissing), I could get it to stop hissing and air up. It has done the same thing everytime since then. Is it probably the ride height valve. Or could something else cause this symptom? I don't like to shotgun fixes if I can help it.

Thanks in advance.

We have an 06 XC chassis that exhibited the same issue. The ride height valve has a pilot valve that can stick and leak not allowing the coach to air up. It can be replaced independent of the whole ride height valve. I ordered one from FL while in Disney last year and replaced it at the camp site. Less than $100 I think.

Katuna, had the same issue, I was told to put the levelers down and then back up. I did and then the air bags inflated.

I (accidently) tried that, too. I used the jacks in manual mode to raise the front so I could crawl under for a look see and when I did, it quit hissing. But when I lowered the jacks, it started hissing again.

Tapping it and flipping the switch has worked so far. The Tampa RV show is coming up; I think I'll risk driving it over and talk to the FL people at the show. Maybe they can listen to it.

Thanks for the tip about valve.

my damon does this about 3 out 5 times
if i let the bags deflate completely then level...
then when we leave i flip the up valve to fill then start her up...and let air build then retract the jacks.

then if the coach doesn't rise, i just wait till we are already to roll and gently roll about a foot and apply the brakes and then wait as the coach will rise up to ride height

Love it! Will try it on the Tampa trip.

Talked to the FL guys at the show. They agreed that it is a fairly common symptom and is almost solved by replacing the entire ride ht valve. Was able to look at it up close on the bare chassis they had at the show and I am going to replace it myself. But first, I am going to take it off and try to take it apart and or lube the shaft.

Thanks again. And the procedure where you flip the air switch to auto before starting definetly seems to improve the odds of airing up ok although it was fairly warm at the show.
