The above link on Phaeton exhaust brake issue is helpful as well. Seems 2014 Freightliner chassis has some issues that everyone who has the problem needs to feed back to them for a permanent solution. Don

We finally pulled out of San Diego to head back to PHX. I had pulled all the fuzes but exhaust brake still did not work. Got ready to head to Freightliner, then pulled up on accelerator with my toe and wala, the exhaust brake came on!!!

So that is the problem on my 2014 Tour with the exhaust brake. Worked the whole trip home as long as I kept pulling up the accelerator with my toe.
Will take it to Freightliner Chandler as soon as I can . Hope this helps someone else. Don

Thanks for posting your temporary , fix.

Hopefully the , cure for the problem is just a re-calibration of the TPS.

Thanks - good to know. Glad you were able to diagnose the issue and come to a work around. Good luck with the permanent fix. Likely has to do with the moveable peddles.

2014 Tour Exhaust Brake stopped working !

Pretty much same as Don's post.

Since new in October 2013, our 2014 Itasca Ellipse with a Freightliner Maxum Chassis experiences intermittent loss of Compression (Jake) Brake. Did some research and learned there are two sensors on the Freightliner Custom Chassis; a Throttle Pedal Position Sensor located on the throttle pedal assembly in the driver cab, and a Throttle Position Sensor on the Cummins diesel engine. In our case the intermittent issue was not caused by the ECM, so resetting fuses had no affect, rather when the compression brake fails to activate after fulling releasing the throttle, either a quick pump of the throttle, or a slight back pressure on the pedal (meaning slipping my foot behind the throttle pedal and pulling towards me) would fully release the throttle and engage the compression brake. Freightliner confirmed the TPPS is not a replaceable component in of itself, but requires a replacement of the entire Throttle Pedal Assembly, about a $500 part unless under warranty.

Exhaust brake stopped working

Hi Chris, I took mine to freightliner when I got back to Phoenix after using my foot to raise the pedal on trip back from San Diego.

They fixed the pedal issue free of charge. Works like it should now. Don

Good to know, thanks Don! We are scheduled with Freightliner at Lake City, Florida in about two weeks, so hope they can do the same.
