4-Way Emergency Flashers
My flasher unit has stopped working and I am at a loss as to how to repair it. My unit is a 2004 Dutchstar DP and the model is 3810. The signal lights work however the emergency flashers do not work at all. Is there a separate flash unit for each of the signal lights and the emergency lights and if so where are they located?

There are separate flashers for turn and emergency flashing. Turn on the ignition and your turn signal, let your ears lead you to the source of the clicking. You can't repair a flasher, remove the bad one and take to an auto parts store and buy a replacement.

On my 03 Dutch Star both flashers are located under the front hood on the firewall above the generator. Their is a clear plastic cover to remove to access the the fuse panel. The flashers are located in there.

Bob, this won't necessarily work on all coaches , like DDJ's coach my flashers are above the gen set and there is a buzzer under the dash to warn the driver they are activated, and both signal and 4 way use the same buzzer.
Flashers are hanging between the two , fuse and relay boxes in this picture.

Thanks for the feedback on the location of the flasher units. I am not near our unit as it is in storage. Skip does your flasher location have a clear cover as well?

Skip in the picture that you are showing, is there a second flasher unit behind the one that is showing or is there only one unit that controls both? Having reread your post it reads like both use the same buzzer or did you mean to say flasher? Thanks for your input.

Two flashers, one buzzer. The four way flasher and turn signal flasher are interchangeable, so you can swap them just to verify that is the problem. They will have two or three terminals on them. If it is the flasher make sure you buy the heavy duty truck type as when you add a tow vehicle their are a lot of lights to control.

In the case of a buzzer, if you disconnect the buzzer then the clicking of the flasher becomes audible. Your photo should help the OP identify the location.

Clear plastic cover removed in the photo, silver flasher is signal lights , clear HD 4 way, flasher behind it with white printing. NOW the bad news, the two fuse relay boxes are on about 4 feet of wiring harness , from the bulkhead connector , so the boxes can be anywhere within in a four foot radius , compartment in front of left front wheel ?
How custom are chassis wiring harnesses, you ask, well the numbers on the boxes are the chassis' last serial numbers.

Don't mean to hijack but I have the same issue with my Winnebago. The problem follows the flasher so I need to source one. The original is a 4amsar 43017. Any idea who would carry these?

I think you mean a Hamsar 43017
Hamsar Diversco Inc, Heavy Duty LED Work Lights, LED Headlights,
If you check the specs and the plug pattern, many other flashers will replace your original.

Success finally.......as mentioned before, the flashers can be anywhere. Mine turned out to be under the dash, left side of the steering column. I could hear the signal light going but access was hindered by the dash cowling. After "gently" pulling the cowling back far enough to locate the signal flasher, I managed to pull it out far enough to also locate the 4way flasher unit. In my unit the flashers are on individual pigtails which plug into a plug on the main harness. As suggested I switched flasher units to determine that the flasher unit was the problem and now I am off to purchase a replacement. The faulty unit is a Hamsar 43017 which is good for 12 lamps.....in my case with the toad it is at the limit. There is a truck center close by which I will try sourcing, however, has anyone suggestions for a "better" replacement? Thanks to all for your input.

Just a thought, have you installed any LED lights outside recently? They don't draw enough current to work some flashers. You may need an LED specialty flasher. BTDT
