My ABS dash warning light has been on when I start the engine and goes out a mile or so down the road. This time it stayed on the entire 100 miles home. 2000 Winnebago Journey. I have searched the subject on the forum. On a related subject - Is there a diagnostic device - code reader I can get to assist me with issues like this? Any advice would help. Thanks

I don't know what type braking system you have but on one MH I worked on for a friend all it needed was brake fluid. There was a sensor that detected low brake fluid.

I had the same thing and Freightliner found a bad sensor on the passenger side front wheel. Solved the problem. Other possible causes are as follows:
Dirty ABS sensor (clean and re-install)
ABS sensor has come out of holder on the wheel (re-install)
Computer problem
There may be other causes but generally this is where I would start.

Thank you guys for the replies! Mike they are air brakes. I guess I will have to find the sensors and clean and inspect them one at a time and maybe identify the culprit.

I have VMSpc, a package that monitors the chassis messaging. I have no personal experience with VMSpc reporting error codes for ABS related problems but would expect it to do so. I have experience with that package setting error codes for other types of problems. Frankly, monitoring error conditions was the main reason that I bought VMSpc and I view the additional gauge information (for thing like turbo boost that are not on the dash) as icing on the cake.

Before you get too carried away hunting down the wheel sensors, you might try locating a local shop that has access to a scan gauge for the chassis to see if that can help you. Perhaps someone in your area already has VMSpc and would be willing to help you. I know that I've done that for others. It takes only a couple of minutes to move the connection for VMSpc from one chassis to another.

Mine was a bit more potentially serious, but very easy to fix. One of the air lines got caught up in the suspension system and got broken. It flashed up the wheel sensor, but there was still lots of air for the other 3 wheels and the toad. The mechanic climbed under, put on a metal connector, and all was well. Luckily we had air brakes as brake fluid would have been a problem

Update
I removed both front wheels and brake drums, cleaned the sensors and lubed the S Cams. Situation resolved. I believe the right side was the culprit as it had a little more brake dust and goo on it. Thanks all!
