Do you add at the front or rear of the coach? Freightliner chassis.

Are you talking about the refrigerant in the dash air or the coach air?

The leak must be fixed first. My dash air was not blowing cold and I had it serviced under an extended warranty plan. There were leaking parts that had to be fixed. Now it works great.

I fill my freon in front of the firewall. There is a high and low pressure schrader valves there. I have a 2000 Freightliner XCS. I feel sure that yours will be there. Only put enough 134 freon in to give maximum temp difference and then stop.

Look in the sight glass when filling.

If the system has a leak and air has entered the sight glass is no help in filling or knowing when to stop filling.

1. Improper "Seat of the pants" charging can create serious problems.
2. May need oil added to the system if it's leaked out.
3. Adding dye to locate the leak(s) would be smart.

You can buy AC kits at Wally World with gauge.
My Freighliner Dash AC quit blowing cold last spring.
I bought one 134 that included oil and sealer and more straight 134.
This spring I did have to add one can.
Connection on mine was at the front and the kits use the low pressure connection. Easy DIY if only a very slow leak.
So far my DIY has been cheaper then any shop charges just to look at it.

Our shop would service A/C's But we sent the motorhmes to A/C shop for major repairs. 134a is different from the old R12. Never add R134a until the bubbles stop.(as you did with R12) If you do it will be over filled. (This from the shops we dealt with) You should fill from low side and stop at about 32 psi.

No offense, but from the question you asked, I would strongly suggest you get someone that knows what they are doing to fix the A/C. Refrigerant can be very dangerous if not handled correctly and you could cause much more damage than the potential money saved.
