I have an '04 Bounder 38N TurboDiesel on a Freightliner chassis with Haldex (Midland) air brakes. This vehicle is new to me and I have a lot of down time so I'm doing the required maintenance check for the M1/M2/M3 services. The inspection says to check the reservoir for moisture. Has anyone done this inspection. Amoung all the parts on the assembly is a 3/8 inch internal wrenching plug. Is this the drain?

Hi,
The common air drain valve for maintenance is located below the air tank itself but some MH have their valve in their front generator area and rear hitch area. It is a must to drain air from time to time to avoid rust inside the tank and other related air equipment. Hope this help.

When I checked Freightliner for our previous rig, an 05 Diesel Bounder, they said draining the 3 valves on the air tanks was sufficient. If water or mist was seen when draining them, it was then assumed that the desiccant and filter in the air drier needed to be changed. Changing the Halidex cartridge is a fairly simple job, if a bit dirty.
