Air springs vs. air bags
I had chassis work done recently (1998) and had to have the airbags replaced (all)I noted (later) that they also replaced air springs. Are they one in the same, front vs. rear? I thought the chassis had 4 air bags did not know about the term air springs.
Thanks Gene

The air diagram for my 99 F/L chassis , refers to the suspension support component as an, " air bag " I do believe the names are interchangeable in the case of the suspension component.
How many parts were billed for ?
If only 4, then the parts are one in the same.

Not really unusual , could come down to a different parts person giving out the part, or a person not up on parts names finalizing your invoice.
When I started working at Chrysler in 1975 they had 5 different names for an , ignition coil.
Or the ongoing confusion over , relays and solenoids.
And the list goes on.

Air spring; An inflatable structure made from reinforced rubber to support a vehicle,
to replace a steel suspention spring.
Air Bag; [moderator edit]Structure in a blimp or dirigible for
holding lighter than air gas for lift. also may be full of hot air.
