Sometimes an OEM part will be a different color than after market. I think the current model of your shock is painted red. At one time Monroe had a shock called the Monroe-Matic that adjusted the same way by compressing and turning.

Ok at the risk of sounding dumb I am a little lost on this topic. On my 2006 Expedition there is a switch that bleeds the air out that I was told by the deal to do prior to leveling. So to my understanding this allows the coach to squat down when I bleed the air off. From the sounds of this it appears I should be leaving the air in. Could someone explain this to me please.

Not dumb, just didn't have all the information. What you are saying about the switch (actually a valve) that controls the inflation of the suspension is correct. Don't change your procedure to level the coach.

If that valve is left in the inflated position after the engine is shut down, the integrity of the system, or its ability to retain pressure, is determined by how long it stays inflated. I just felt that for my coach to hold pressure for less than a day was not long enough and there might be a leak that needs to be addressed.

Spoke to a rep. at Koni North America. Essentially what he said was he probably couldn't do much from a engineering standpoint to modify the internal valving and the rough ride was somewhat of a sacrifice for the better handling which is what I figured all along. I grew up in a chassis and brake shop that my father owned and it appears this ride/handling trade-off hasn't changed much over time.

I noticed the same problem on my 05 journey. Sometime the air would hold for a month and othertimes would be flat in a day. I took a creeper and rolled down under and found a fitting that would hiss air when I wiggled the air lines. I plan on tagging the fitting before I bring it into the dealer.

Just picked up our rig from Stoops Freightliner in Indianapolis. Had a leak down situation as well. They tightened several fittings at no charge. (warranty) It is holding about 4 days now before dropping down. This is better than it has ever been.

Thanks for relating your experience. I was just about to put this one in the thats just the way it is file. Now I think I'll pursue it to my Freightliner shop.

Just to follow up on this problem, I had the local Freightliner shop look at it and found a line not completely attached to one of the air bags. All fixed now and holds air for over a week. Thanks to all for the responses.
