Has anyone experienced the "motorhomes come last" policy at a Freightliner dealer? Work trucks keep rolling in and the longer my coach stands in line for warranty work, the further behind it gets.
By anyone's experience, is this standard policy at all FL dealers?

Unfortunately each service center is a franchise operation. The best FL can do is remove their Oasis status for a poor performing service center. Having work done at Gaffney it sort of spoils you and they all suffer by comparison. I would love to have FL open a western factory service center but again they do not want to compete with a franchise dealer. Do look to see if they are an oasis dealer and check service reviews. As do a write up on your service. Good and bad and post it. I like www.rvservicereviews.com Some have never heard of the FCOC discount program let alone honor it. If at all possible, shop around. Don't return to one you don't like and let the market determine their success at least when it comes to getting your money.

These are the kind of folks I try to blow off when I see this. Problem is that Freightliner pays one rate to the shop for warranty work and the shop charges much more for non-warranty to truckers. Plus, many mechanis don't want to do work on a MH due to the cramped work spaces.
Might be a good opportunity to see part of the SE and drive up to Gaffney for a few days. These guys are the best of the best as far as MH work on Freightliner chassis go. Can be pretty nice country in the fall.

Not a standard policy.

My local FL dealer even has designated overnight parking spaces for RVs with electric posts and water access. Always working on 5-8 RVs at any given time. Appointments are made and kept, no issues.

I have had varying experiences, but waiting at a service center was not one of them. One place close to home, Houston, is appointments only, and they have a dedicated mechanic for motor homes. The problem is that the appointment may be a month or so down the road. Most of us know that we don't like to have our coach sit around awaiting an appointment when we can be on-the-road. I found another FL 290 miles away that could take me the following monday, this was a thursday, so we headed that way. It took them 5 minutes to inspect a recall item and say it was okay.

I second the trip to Gaffney. We just finished such a trip in May, and at the same time I was getting an M-3 done, I attended Camp Freighliner. Well worth the trip. I'm thinking all my 15,000 mile checkups will be done there.

Sorry for the confusion caused by the abbreviation in my earlier response - my local FL (FL = Freightliner, not Florida) is in Michigan. Cummins Bridgeway.

Yup. They do it right for RVers... and no connection here, just a satisfied customer.

Even have a page on their web site specific to RV service.

Your profile shows Pensacola and that leads to some conclusions. You probably are due an update. Warranty work was always a long wait for me. Trucks and cash customers always came first. Fortunately I always had time, but it was still an irritation. One thing I learned is that some truck companies purchase service agreements in addition to the warranty to get speedy service. They can't wait.

The FL shop I've used a couple of times in Wichita (and probably the last too) will make your appointment for 7:00-7:30 in the morning then it will be around noon before they ever run your coach into a work stall. If the work is not completed by the time your technician goes off duty he just leaves the shop without even talking to you, and another technician shows up to figure out where to start working and how much has already been done. Really crappy customer service. As was stated above, the truckers get all the attention and any left over goes to the RVers at 10-15% extra in hourly labor charges.
If Gaffney can't control the work done at FL franchises who can.

FYI, anyone with a Freightliner chassis in Northern CA, Sacramento Truck Center is a Freightliner Oasis center. They have a seperate shop/area/service manager for motorhomes only. Lawrence Cowan, the service manager is very helpful. He can usually get you in either right away or within a few days depending on your maintenance problem.

Yes. I called to get in Travel Centers AR for warranty work. Was told at least 30 days before I could be worked in.

If that Florida service station is Orlando Freightliner, Apopka, be grateful they have not touched your coach and run for the hills. This company is absolutely horrible.
I am surprised Gaffney still aloows them to post the Freightliner name.
