I need to have the ZF 8018 steering gear recall (FL509A-C) complied with. Has anyone used Big T's for service and if so would you recommend them. I thought I read someone's review of them but I can't find it now.

Thanks
Jim

They're near my home and I use them as needed. My only problem with them is that you can't make an appointment; it's first in, first out. I don't know what you would do if fulltiming.
The work has always been done to my satisfaction, they a lot of MH's.
In fact, they recently chased down my problem the trany temp sending unit. After three hours they said it was the sending unit which is internal so they couldn't do the repair as they aren't Allison certified.
I now must see if Allison will help me out with the charges. I just had the problem fixed by Gem Equipment in Ventura. Hopefully all is well but I won't be using the rig for several weeks as I'll be on the East Coast (via airplane).
Bottom Line: I've had no complaints with Big T's.....

Thanks for the info. Not being able to make an appointment is reason enough for me to find another shop. According to the recall letter this repair is going to take 2 trips to the shop, one for an inspection and another to order and replace the parts if necessary.

Thanks Again
Jim

Jim,
Try Bakersfield Truck Center. They're up the I-5 at the base of the San Joaquin Valley. I called them about the exhaust recall and they took me on a Sunday! There are a few CG's in the area, as well as a Wallmart that is a CG in itself almost every night. The good news is that there's a great BBQ place on the property..
