Hi,
I have a brake controller that has 4 wires (Blue -- carries the brake controller output voltage, White -- provides the ground connection, Black -- is the 12-volt power supply, and Red -- connects to the brake stoplight switch located above the brake pedal). I'm trying to wire it to the under dash pigtail on my 2010 F-liner XCL Chassis but I don't have an adapter so I will hook it up by splicing. The 6 wires for the pigtail are thick red with white stripe, thick black, thick red, small brown, medium pink, small grey, and small red with white stripe. Can someone tell me what wires to slice together? My trailer is a tandem axle utility that uses the supplied plug on the back of my 2010 Itasca Meridian 40L. Many thanks, -Roy

It doesn't look like much help is coming from forum members. Try giving Freightliner in Gaffney, SC a call. Their number is 800-385-4357 (FTL-HELP). Have the last 6 digits of your VIN ready. I've used this service several times and they are great.

You need to find out what function each one of those colored wires provides before deciding on how to spice in the brake controller. Since I don't know your specific wiring diagram, it is hard to suggest what direction to take. I am assuming that's why you haven't gotten any responses on your question.

One idea is to take a DVOM with a wire probe and using the meter determine what function each wire provides and go from there.

Roy, I installed brake controller on my new to me '05 Mandalay on a Freightliner chassis. I called Freightliner and they sent me a photo of the six pin connector with each pin's function identified. I also used a VOM to verify that each pin's function matched the photo. Hardest part was deciding where to place the controller. Good luck and keep us informed...John

Thanks. Winnebago came through with the wiring diagram just as I was getting ready to make the call to Freightliner.
