We have a new Meridian 36G 2006 on a Freightliner Chassis. Every time we use the foot brake we smell a burning brake smell. Is this normal in a new rig? We also use the engine brake and exhaust brake, which work fine.

It's fairly normal, more so with new brake shoes and especially under hard braking. You can minimize this condition by anticipating your stops, as much as possible, and coasting to the stopping point. Also, the engine/exhaust brake can minimize this smell.
