Thanks Driver! Great posting and very helpful. We are planning to attend the camp in May, so this provides an excellent background on what to expect. I appreciate your taking time to do this for the group.

Marty

Marty, Your very welcome! Although it took me a lot of time to put the piece together, I enjoyed doing it and if just 1 person is able to benefit from the piece it would have been all worth while.

This is one Camp that you're going to have a wonderful time at!

Great blog, Mike. We've 'done' Camp FTL a couple of years ago...want to go again. Well worth the time and money. Gives you something to do while they do maintenance on the rig, too! We were just there this week. You meet the nicest people in the waiting room!

It is because of your sharing the experience that DW and I will take the course in June and will be going to Gaffney to get our first maintenance done. DW says why do I have to go but she took driving lesons from Lazy Days and loved it. I told her that if she wants to drive it she had to understand what she was pushing down the road, especially when it is 60 ft. long and 37k pounds. OK, so WE are going. Thanks!!

LOL...Mike Cody does a wonderful job...DW will learn a lot! And the huge binder you get has all the info in there to refer back to. (And you won't go away hungry!) Wish I were going again now.

DriVer, we just competed the Camp Freightliner course. As you correctly told us it is well worth the time and money (only $150 for two). Mike Cody is worth the trip alone. I am not very mechanical and this is our first DP, but I learned many helpful things and I am definitely a better operator now. Some in the class did their own maintenance all the way to a single lady who just bought her first DP and knew nothing about it ie all levels of experience. Everyone felt the class was worthwhile.

Service at Gaffney was outstanding as well. I highly recommend to anyone attending to read your post first as a primer.

Thanks again

Marty

Marty, That's great and I'm glad that you benefited and enjoyed the course. Mike is a character or is that more like a training Super Hero ????

Did you know that Freightliner staff is available here in our Chat Rooms on a monthly basis? Freightliner Chat Schedule Announced. Keep in touch!

I wish that I had seen this earlier, but it was just in this months Motorhome Mag. It's filled for the westcoast and there's only one scheduled..I wonder how we would go about getting another one out here.???
Not that I don't want to head out for an eastern roadtrip, but the DW says that she isn't quite ready for that.

I would write to Mike Cody at the Gaffney plant in SC. He is the instructor and seems to have ready access to Freightliner senior management.

I think you will find it worth the trouble if you can get another class scheduled out west.

Good luck

Marty
