Change Oil in Front Wheel Hubs

Two years ago when I purchased my 2007 Damon Astoria motorhome it was near new condition with only 7,000 miles of use. At the moment it has 14,000 miles of use. The oil in the front hubs to the best of my knowledge is "original" meaning the oil is now ten years old. There are no oil leaks and the amount of oil in the hubs is at the proper level. The oil looks "new".

Should I change the oil in the front hubs? If "yes", is this a do-it-yourself job? I appreciate any thoughts/guidance the forum has!

They are supposed to be changed every two years. If you
switch to synthetic you could go longer, but there is no
specific time extension given by Freightliner. I do every
four years with Mobil One synthetic.

Oh, and yes you can do it yourself if you can get the
wheels off the ground.

Yes, supposed to be done every 2 years.

I do it every year, since it's so easy and cheap to do. The way the inside hub is made you never get all the old oil drained out of the bearing, so I figure doing every year is a good plan.

I just made it part of my annual maintenance routine. and drain the hubs while I'm greasing. I use Lucas.

Mine has a little drain plug which you take out, rotate the tire around so that the drain plug is on the bottom and the oil drains. I set up a funnel which drains into an old soda bottle. You can take the center rubber stopper out as well. When done draining, put the drain plug back in, and fill thru the center hole up to the line. Rotate the wheel to help the oil get thru the bearing. Let it sit and some will drain thru the bearing to the inside of the hub. Come back and refill up to the line, rotate the tire again, and let it sit for a bit. Repeat until it no longer takes any oil to stay at the right level.

Easy.
