After removing the serpentine belt you need to back out the bolts on the tension pulley enough that you can rotate it enough to get the water pump belt past it. The hardest part is getting to the two bolts that you have to loosen in order to get the water pump belt loose.

I have found out

to change the water pump belt you need to take off
the harmonic balancer on this engine becouse the belt will not fit over it . I was
woundering if anyone out there has changed one on this engine and how hard will
it be to get to. Its a 3126B cat.

Tank your vin number to a CAT dealer and get the belt. You might also get the bearing that goes in the idler pulley and replace it while you are there. Together they are only $34

The new belt will pass over the harmonic balancer if you turn it inside out.

I Went to the cat dealer and purchased the new water pump belt.
When i got home i went under the motorhome to see if the belt
would fit around the harmonic balancer and it did. So my next step
is to get the other belt by the weekend and go ahead and change
both belts. From the way they look I do not think they ever have been
changed. Wish me luck.

Jeff
