Greetings All:
Where is the power steering pump on a Cummins/Freightliner XC DP chasis? I located the Hydraulic Oil Reservoir in the front above the generator, but I am not sure if this serves the power steering pump. I searched above and under the engine where I would expect to find it (similar to a car or truck) but could not locate it. If the reservoir does serve the power steering pump, would the actual pump also have a dip stick like a car/truck?
Thanks,
Dave
PS, I posted this on Newmar section as well, again thanks.

Dave, It's unlikely that a RDP unit will have 2 dipsticks to check the power steering fluid.
If your vehicle is registered on the Access Freightliner web-page you can get all the call-outs for where everything is situated on your chassis.
Go to www.freightlinerchassis.com and check it out.

Sounds like that should be the power steering reservoir. I have a Cat C-7 on the FL chassis but the reservoir is at the back of the coach right at the radiator. It holds about 2-2 1/2 quarts of Dexron Hydraulic , is plastic so you can see the fluid level, and supplies fluid to the power steering. Sounds more reasonable to have it up front than back by the radiator but I didn't have any choice where they put it.

Thanks...now that you say that Wagonmaster, I think I am mistaken and it is as you describe in the back. I will go tomorrow and check as well as get my vin so I can go to the FL webpage.
Thanks,
Dave

I called Freightliner help line and they confirmed that the reservoir is the only place to check power steering fluid. Thanks!

The one above your generator. Is probably for the windshield washer fluid.
