Chrome Exhaust Tip

I have a 2001.5 Discovery with the Freightliner XC Chassis and have been giving the coach and chassis some TLC. Noticed that the original exhaust tip was showing some signs of rust and several cracks were forming near the tip edge. Visited a local Truck Parts Center and found a nice new chromed 5" dia., 18" long exhaust tip which was a direct replacement for the original. After dropping $68 and some change, I proceded home and removed the original. After removing the clamp I used my high speed grinder to slice through the tip in three places and after several hammer taps and a little wiggling, off came the tip. Installed the new tip with the old clamp which I had wire brushed and painted with high temp flat black stove paint. Total time for the replacement was 40 min. I had visited the local Freightliner Dealer and was suprised that Freightliner didn't have exhaust tips. The parts person said they were installed by the Coach Manufacturer and to check with them
