I just ordered the parts to install a water filter but what hose do you use to put the filter inline with? I have a 09 Cummins with a 8.3. Thanks, Jim

Inlet and outlet sources are critical to obtain proper flow. Personally I think you're wasting your money but if you're going to do it, better to do it right or you can cause more problems than you propose to fix.

My coach has bunch of 3/8 I believe coolant lines. One to the turbo and back to the coolant reservoir. I wouldn't mess with that one if you have it. I used a return line that goes to the top of the radiator. Works fine.

I would bet the line to the top of the radiator is an air bleed to the expansion tank. Not a good place to tie into. Ensuring all the air is removed will do your cooling system more good than the coolant filter. IMHO

One thought is that the older motors had the filter next to the oil filter, so why couldn't one buy the adapter that bolts to the block and have it like the factory installed it? If not, what hose is the proper one to install into? Thanks again, Jim

Just went and looked at the coolant filter plumbing. I have a 3/8 line come out of the top of the themostat housing pipe. The line goes to the coolant expansion tank but also has a tee that goes to the left side top of the radiator. That was all factory. I used the hose going to the top of the radiator, but now goes through the filter first.

I have 2 lines that go to the overflow tank, one goes from the upper right side of the radiator to the overflow tank and the other one comes from the thermostat area , comes up about 6 " and tees into the line that goes from the turbo to the overflow tank. What line is the best?
