Although it sounds imposable/improbable, years ago, (in Wisconsin), it was illegal to drive with ONLY your parking lights ON, (day or night).... the headlights could be on anytime.

I know that because a state patrol officer, (on what to that point had been a perfectly NICE day), pulled me over and issued me citation for driving with my parking lights on!

As crazy as it sounds, at that time, in order for a vehical to pass a state safety inspection, the front and rear parking lights had to work.... (even if the vehicle's front parking lights went OFF when the headlights where turned ON, as was the case with my '57 Buick).

The parking lights had to work but it was illegal to use them, (except when parked).

The same law was and, if I'm not mistaken, still used today in CA. (illegal to drive w/parking lights only at any time)

In post #15 I provided three links labeled how to disable DRL's. Did you look them up?

Rich,

I disabled my DRL's. Here's a link to my discussion.

Good luck.

Yes, but none of them apply to the Freightliner chassis.

Just as an afterthought, does disabling the DRL's affect your insurance? Disabling safety features doesn't usually resonate well with such companies. Might be an idea to double check that.

I agree with you 100% and have asked the same question on other forums I always brings out these Hollyier than thou types I wish they would mind their own business it's not like we are trying to disable emission controls or anything that is required by law for that matter. Personally I don't like the idea of the lights coming on when I am leaving predawn and shining into some ones campsite or coming in to one after dark and overpowering some ones campfire when my night vision and parking lights work better at 5 MPH in a campground. If any one don't understand that they are the ones that need help
