Diesel fuel tank rust and faulty gauge

Recently replaced my fuel tank on a 2008 tiffin Phaeton due to severe amounts of rust in the tank. I still have an issue with the fuel gauge acting erratic despite having the sending unit replaced and also having Freightliner running diagnostics. Anyone else having fuel gauge problems where the reading really gets erratic, especially as the fuel level gets done to half or lower?
