I have a 2002 Dutch Star, Freightliner Chassis, Cat engine, side radiator. When I am driving on a gravel or dirt road, I have what appears to be a tornado of dust behind the motor home. It is SO BAD that I cannot see the tow vehicle. The situation started this spring. I thought maybe the radiator was plugged, but the temperature remains normal.

HELP!!!

Welcome to the Newmar forum & irv2.
Any motor home is going to kick up dust and dirt behind them on dirt road surface.
Your exhaust pipe could be turned to the side to cut down dust may help but doubt it.
My concern is your radiator grill and dust and dirt there you would need to clean after every trip.
Enjoy the forums

Yes, I agree, not much you can do about it but make sure your exhaust tip is pointed a little more sideways and reduce speed. The Newmar, like most coaches, but not all, has the engine air intake on the driverside away from the exhaust kick up and the road shoulder.

Any chance you have a chrome extension on your exhaust pipe that has rotated on you forcing the exhaust towards the ground more than before?

I have a cum. 500 hp side draft also. We are rock crawlers so we go on a lot of offroad. Every time we get back I preasure wash the radator and you will be surprised how much dirt comes out. I had to learn the hard way now it is just easy to clean it.

Thanks for all the informatiom, but I always had a little dust on gravel roads, but nothing like it is now, in fact the rear compartments on the
passenger side are layed with dust.
