Excellent Freightliner Service - ATC Dallas South

Kudos to ATC Freightliner Dallas South.

I have just returned home after having camped out in their parking lot for 3 days.

I was having overheating issues on my 2011 Newmar Cummins 6.7 ISB with a rear radiator - gradually getting worse over the past 3 months. From this forum, I had pretty much figured that it was the fan clutch. I emailed FCCC on 6/11/14 about the problem, and they suggested I bring it in for diagnosis and repair.

Indeed it was the Fan clutch - and they had the replacement. FCCC also wanted them to install a Guard-Dog module between the fan and harness as a precaution - that had to be shipped. I also had a cracked and leaking primary air gauge which had to be shipped.

It was a balmy 105 degrees in the parking lot where I camped.

The facility is top notch. The air-conditioned shop is huge and clean as an operating room. Even though the rear radiator is a PITA to work on- they never complained and treated me extremely well, showing me all the busted parts. The viscous fan clutch leaks its silicone and stops working.

Here's the kicker - the Fan clutch R&R is approximately a $2700 job - yikes! That is what I was prepared for on day 1 after the diagnosis confirmed. My warranty expired 2 months ago, the the service manager said he would try and get FCCC to "work with me". I saved a copy of my email and case number with FCCC dated 1 week prior to the expiration of my warranty and gave it to the service manager ----> FL picked up the whole tab. Happy dance time. My only cost was $300 for R&R of the air gauge and 3 days of camping in the parking lot.

BTW - I flogged it for the 250 mile trip home, towing my jeep in 100 degree temps and the coolant temp never got above 196. Usually stayed 192-194. Previously it lived at 200-214.

That's great hawgguy. Always glad to hear of Freightliner stepping up to take care of their customers.

Where in west Texas do you live?
