We are upgrading from our Class C and like the idea of a diesel, even at the added cost. I have driven the FRED at Lazy Days, but was not impressed with the noise/vibrations, especially at the price. I have been reading about this new Maxim chassis that Freightliner has developed with Winnebago, I know it is only under their "higher line" rigs, but wandered what are the thoughts on this forum??

By the way, long time "lurker", of couse first time posting! Thanks.

Welcome aboard Big Load, please feel free to post as often as you like. I don't believe there are to many Maxim chassis out yet, a little to early for much feedback. But, if storage is your bag, I think the Maxim is your baby.

Maxim is actually Maxum.

When the Maxum was announced I did some digging to see what the differences are from the Evolution Chassis. The only difference I could identify is a lower center rail for a lower center of gravity and, depending on cargo bay design, more storage room above the rails. Gross weight rating, suspension types, brakes, gearing, etc. appears to be all the same as the Evolution chassis.

Beyond this comparing Fred to Evolution/Maxum is night and day and probably a $250K price difference in the coach that rides on it.
