Had a problem with my coach and when I contacted Freightliner. they told me to make sure that the repair facility checks both fuel filters. I was told that most dealers don't even know about the filter that is near the fuel tank. I had my M2 service done in Elkhart, In at a freightliner dealer. They were supposed to change all fluids and filters. They missed the one at the tank. My problem with the coach was that filter pulgged and caused the fuel lift pump to fail. Had to be towed 230 miles for repair. All because a $15 filter was not changed. Turns out that the dealers did not know it was there. Only upon my insistance did they search and find it. If you have a FRED, check it out.

That is a filter that is not on my 2000 XCS Freightliner chassis. I am not sure what I have prior to the lift pump, perhaps a strainer. What does your filter look like, spin on, etc?

It is an inline filter that looks like a filter from a Ford Pickup. It is about 2.5 inches in diameter and about 3 inches long. Insert ends on it.
