That is true! I picked it up yesterday and didn't look back. I will not be going back. Well, maybe for parts, if they are the cheapest.

Freightline Oasis designation means absolutely nothing as far as us RVers go. I went to the one in Oklahoma City for a fan hub bearing replacement on my 330 HP Cat C-7 and they charged me 20 hrs labor. I had gotten previous estimates from another Freightliner shop, but they couldn't work me in in time for my vacation, of 8-10 hrs and afterwards I called Gaffney because I thought the 20 hrs was outragious and was told they do it all the time at no longer than 12 hrs. This particular shop had several other motorhomes awaiting service so I know they do it all the time.

I looking for another Freightliner shop now.

I just had the oil, oil filter. both fuel filters and a grease at a freightliner dealer and it was $432.00 Also both bought 2 new fuel filters.
Was going ti\o get a laser aliegnment done, but they had no way of rasing the coach to put the shimes in. It has the indendent suspension. The coast would have been $200.00 plus parts.
Raise the MH to put shims in and a FL dealer can't do it? How do they work on a Class 8 truck then?

One-time experience, so take it with a grain of salt.

Went to the FL facility north of Atlanta on I85 for a simple alignment. Price was on the wall and had been confirmed by prior phone call.

Several hours after our quoted "finish" time, and I got a bill for more than that. Service manager said that RVs require more attention and service; hence the higher charge.

I (not being a nice person when surprised negatively) challenged him with the question about howintheheck does your alignment guy know what is above the XC chassis that he's working on?

His response was a long monologue about how his facility had ruined somebody's new coach carpet with grease; resulting in a $25K fix...so he decided that all RVs should pay more because of the increase in liability. (truckers don't care about such things as grease on their rigs)

I paid the quoted price...and before leaving the parking lot, noticed that the steering wheel leaned toward 11:00. Insult added to intended injury.

Too bad, because I'd sure like to know that a FL facility could service my rig from time to time. Not now..........

I use a mobile heavy truck mech on my MH. Work is excellent and the price is reasonable. If you go to a Cat or Freightliner facility take your tin pants along cause you will need them.

I have been reading this thread from the beginning - too bad Freightliner, "The Company", does not do a better job of policing their dealerships.

If a privately owned Freightliner dealership does not want to work on MHs with their chassis - so be it, don't except them - easy-peezy.

My coach went into a Freightliner dealership and it came out in worse shape than it went in - too bad as I am not a mechanic, they lost a good customer.

I would love to go Gaffney but I live in the Mid-West, not practical.

The good news is I have found a local mechanic, I went into his shop, spoke with him, and felt comfortable when I left..............we'll see when I take it in.

Thanks to everyone here for your stories - I am new to the motor home world and learn so much on iRV2.

First off if your talking a Freightliner dealer instead of a Freightliner OASIS dealer, then all bets are off.
Second if you have problems or complaints with an OASIS service center, then let FCCC know.

I have been to several OASIS service centers and had good treatment and good service. I am a full-timer and make it a point to go to Tolleson, AZ for my annual service.

Freightliner Oasis Service Center
9600 W. Roosevelt St., Tolleson, AZ 85353
623 907-9900

Excellent service and staff, Kirk Ault is great to work with. 7 full hook-up sites! 2 blocks off I-10.

I believe there is some truth to the statement that some Frieghtliner dealers would prefer not to work on motor homes. Their mechanics have a range of certifications for brakes, diesel and other manufacturer training, but I doubt if any have RV certifications, except CAT and Cummins. I needed diesel repair due to a breakdown and A Freightliner shop was less than a mile from my location. They got the job. They repaired the engine and dealt, with my extended service policy. I noticed they had two shop rates, one for RV's and one for trucks. The RV rate was $25/hour higher. This shop was very professional and took care to insure my un-winterized motor home was kept inside for protection. They probably earned the extra rate, and I can understand that charge. The original post quote does seem really excessive. Guess they really did not need that work.
