Earlier this week we had an issue with "Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration".. to make a long story short! We ended up on the phone with Joe at Freightliner SC. He walked me through 4 attempts to do a Stationary Regeneration and none worked. He immediately set the wheels in motion to have us towed 13 miles to a Freightliner facility at their expense. The facility in College Park MD received our rig about 2:00 that afternoon, and their night shift fixed the problem with a recall campaign which caused the issue, did the regen and they called me at 8:00 the next morning to tell me the work was done. I immediately went over and picked it up. There was a charge of $228 so I paid it even though I didn't think I had to. As it turned out, we were just too fast for Joe at Freightliner, because he called the facility the next morning to let them know not to charge us anything.... but we had already paid and gone... We were so happy that things turned out OK and so fast, we really didn't question the charge, but Joe informs us he is getting with Cummins on this and we will be reimbursed the $228.
This was my first dealing with Freightliner since we owned the Fleetwood... and I must say, this company is all about customer service... I don't think it is just a fluke that we were treated so well. I'm sure there are some horror stories on this forum, but wow we are really happy we have a Freightliner chassis.

Great story. Freightliner backed their warranty on my DP to fix an exhaust brake problem and I fear that all their profit on my chassis was lost. The problem ended up being a wire that was cut and it could well have been the MH manufacturer that did that. At a Freightliner Club Rally their free tech support spent an entire day to locate and fix an issue where my brake lights were on full time when the exhaust brake switch was on even if the exhaust brake was not engaged at the time. Again it was a cut wire and the service was free for my then out of warranty chassis. Then there was the free product improvement for stronger anti-sway bars and new shocks. It seems obvious that they lost money on my chassis.

Gaffney has gone out of their way to take care of us as well. We were there a couple weeks ago and will be back to finish the remaining items next week.

I attended the April Camp Freightliner at the Gaffney Service Center. That was on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday I had an appointment for an M3 or somewhere between a 60 and a 72 month service on the new soon to be released service schedule. I had the coach in at 7:45 when the doors opened. The saying is: in by 8 out by 2. I figured if it took longer I would stay over night in their lot. They have 30 and 50 amp at every post and a dump station. Anyway I got caught up on the internet in their lounge while they worked on the coach. I had many occasions to see a multitude of walk ins with some of the oddest issues. They never turned anyone away. So it is getting close to 5 pm and I am getting concerned about a place to stay that night. I was told that they were committed to working up to three hours of overtime that night. They had gotten behind with getting slammed with the walk ins. I got my coach shortly after 5. As a matter of fact I think it went out for the road test at exactly 5. Even though it took a bit longer for my coach I thanked them for addressing all the walk in because I knew if I was ever on the road I would be appreciate that kind of service to get me back on the road.
Now if we can only get their franchise center to do the same. Or maybe a company owned service center out West?

We, too, had a wonderful experience at Gaffney. They treated us very well and it was well worth the 2K mile trip that it took us to get there and back. I would very much consider doing it again if we ever ran into something where driving it that far after a problem was discovered was an option.

The horror stories that you hear about are from some (not all) of the local Freightliner dealers. We have two of them in the Dallas Ft.Worth area. While they are both Oasis dealers and are supposed to be "MH friendly", they both mince no words about "doing you a favor" to even consider working on your MH. I know at lot more about MHs than the techs who attempted to work on ours. If it were something major (brakes, suspension, differential), I would be forced to take it to them. Otherwise, our MH will never go near a Freightliner dealer besides Gaffney.

We had an appointment for the M3, valves adjusted, gen service and steering recall. They took it in at 8am. About 3:30 we saw it go out of the parking lot and soon returned and pulled right back in the bay and the door went down. About 4:00 we saw it go back out again .... this time when it returned someone walked out and talked to the driver, then he pulled it back in the bay and the door went down. We were then told that the first test drive the driver lost power steering and they checked everything and sent it back out. He then told me that they were changing the power steering pump (at no cost to me) and they would stay as late as it would take to get us on the road. At 6:00 we saw it go back out and this time when it came back in the driver pulled to the door turned the wheels back and forth and then pulled it to our parking spot.

After we left later that night we lost power steering when we pulled off the interstate for fuel. The next time we pulled off the power steering was back. The following weekend on our way home we had the same thing happen. When we called Gaffney they said we needed to get it to a repair facility (no cost to us) and if we felt uncomfortable driving they would arrange a tow. Although they located a repair place about 70 miles from us, I stated I would rather take it back to Gaffney. So, this Thursday we have an appointment for repairing the power steering and greaseing the brake sliders.

We just got back from Gaffney as well. We were there We were there 4/20 - 4/24 and before that 3/22 - 3/27. Neither time did we have an appointment but they let us park and wait for an opening. Pat was wonderful and very helpful. Also, the guys were amazing. Very professional and helpfu.
While there we visited Harold's Restaurant which was on Diners, Drive-ins, & Dives and got the waitress and owner to sign or DDD book.

I agree completely with the above posts regarding the Gaffney service facility. We just had our first (6,000 mile) service completed at there facility, yesterday. They were very professional and the service was completed by 4pm as promised when we left the coach. The waiting area is neat and clean and they even have a free WiFi for the customers. It is about a 200 mile drive for us from our home, but well worth it and we will back here next year for the 12 month service. Our chassis was built at the Gaffney facility, so I feel they certainly know how to service and maintain the unit.
