FIRE UP- Chase down that air leak... My Air Brake holds air for a month or more -starts at 125 and never below 110psi. No noticeable daily change...

Hooligan,
Well Sir, I surely appreciate your concern here. If I park the coach with 125 in the system, I've never "timed" the leak or, did a time check on just how much it looses, over a given amount of time so, I may have exaggerated at least a tiny bit. As we all know, the system normally tops out at about 125, plus or minus a pound or two. The parking brake system will not "auto activate" until the system is down to around 40-45. I've parked it at 125 and then, not checked it or, turned on the ignition for whatever reason for as much as a month and still had around 35, plus or minus.

So, yes, it does leak down but, not as quickly as I may have lead anyone to believe. After dealing with fire trucks and air systems for well over 35 years, and about 99.99% of them had air leaks, some large, some small but I'm not sure any of them ever held it at topped out pressure, for more than 24 hours.

Sure I'd love to find it and repair it, tighten a hose, or whatever it needs to correct it but, at the rate it leaks, I'd bet it would be seriously hard to find it. I might just give it a try when it cools down some. Thanks.
Scott

Scott, I thought you were losing all the air pressure overnight, sounds like you are on top of it..
Good point on the spring brakes engaging while the hub is off, I do all my routine maintenance, don't have the background for some of the heavy duty stuff....
Take care...

Hooligan,
Again, thanks for your concern. Yeah, it does leak but, not all that much. I think I'll do a sort of "detailed" account of just how much it does leak in a 24 hour period. Especially since any less of a time frame probably won't reveal much. Now, as for your maintenance on the "heavier duty stuff", I'd be glad to coach you through something like the hub seal replacement if and when, you'd ever want to tackle something like that.

Replacing that hub seal is identical to a 3/4 ton pickup. The only difference, IT'S A LOT BIGGER I use a "torque multiplier" for the lug nut removal and, I had to borrow a massive hub nut socket for the dual hub nuts in there. I think that socket is about a 4" socket. But, without one, darn near impossible. And, in the old days, when I was a young idiot, I'd use a hammer and chisel to break those hub nuts loose. DUMB

Now, if I can't borrow one for the other side, I'll just look it up and buy it. My son was working at an RV repair facility and that's where I managed to borrow it from for the first hub seal replacement. He's now move on to Jimmy Johnson Chevrolet. Anyway, again, if you or any one else has a hub leak and wants to jump in there and replace it, it's not a very hard job at all.

I made a hub seal driver to install it. That was fun. But, that tool is the EXACT diameter needed for that 5" seal. Anyway, thanks again.
Scott

Well, gentlemen , after checking in on this post a while ago, and seeing, capacities of 16 pints and 6 1/2 quarts. I slid under the coach with a 12 quarts drain pan and got quite a shock , when I had to jam the drain plug back in to keep the pan from over flowing. The level was correct ; I'd checked the level with the oil change.
14.5 liters , 15.25 US quarts. I knew the diff was big , way bigger than the Dana 60 in my last P/U , but that amount of gear oil was a real surprise.
Thought there would be something in that housing besides oil , gears maybe to take up some of the space.
Must be one of those " hydraulic couplings " I've heard about.
