I have an 04 with FL XC chassis, aluminum wheels. I lost one of the front hubcaps on I-40 because it was very rough. Since these caps are just pressed in with tension clips to hold them in, does anyone know of a way to secure them better and still be able to pry them off when needed? They are $30 ea. to replace.

You should be able to stop in any truck stop or someplace similar to buy one.

Make sure you get the correct number of notches to fit the hub. I'm thinking you have a four notch but don't trust me on that.

Just bend the clips a bit to create more tension.

If I read the original post correctly, you're looking for ideas to make the hubcaps more secure. Two thoughts come to mind:
  • Dab some Loctite on the tabs before you install the new ones
  • Use some silicone sealer on the tabs
i haven't tried either one of these ideas so there's no guarantee they'll work.

Thank you all for your replies. I, too, had thought of using silicone or GOOP on the tabs. The new one I bought fits tight by itself, but I may bend the tags a little also.

To wake up this thread again.. I just discovered a broken clip. Is this a standard issue part at the local parts store??

Probably not at an auto.parts.store. Maybe a truck stop
I got mine at a parts house specifically for trucks.

Yeah, I found that out..
I want to two places, both knew exactly what I was talking about, and both said "you won't find those here"...

I'm gonna hit my local commercial truck tire shop before making the trek to Van Nuys Hubcap. And it THEY don't have them ...
