fuel filters changed

I did oil and fuel filters change today. The shaft of the hand pump on the secondary fuel filter will not press inward to seat and lock. It was extended before the filters were changed. When the filter was removed I tried pushing it in with no success. Any clue as to what may be the issue and how to resolve? I'm not going to mess with it until be get back from Albuquerque next week.

I have a fuel primer hand pump on my coach, and I personally have never used it. But the CAT lubrication tech has and it apparently works well. My understanding is the pump shaft "unscrews" to use the pump and it "screws" back in to lock it. Could this be the way yours works? Rook

My fuel primer , pumps easily , up to a point. When all the air is forced out of the system the pump requires real force to move it in to the point where the shaft can be threaded into the the locked position. I always thought it requires the force to push the fuel through the return line pressure regulator at 65 psi.
If your pump won't move even with air in the system , it could be seized.

I think it is seized. Even with the filter removed the shaft can't be pushed inward to twist and lock it. It extends around 2 inches from that point. There are 2 bolts that seem to hold it on to the body of the fixture. I may try removing those bolts and seeing if the handle and pump can be removed and examined.
