I think my fuel sending unit is bad is by chance a relay or fuze somewhere that I might know about. The guage worked when I parked it and when I started back up about 4 days later no fuel guage. Just thought there might be a easier fix than for me to drop the fuel tank.

There are several things to check before replacing the fuel level sensor. I will assume you have a Freightliner chassis but Spartan would probably work the same. My Freightliner sends all dash sensors to a VDU computer which digitizes the signals and multiplexes them onto a single digital cable. Each dash gauge selects its signal off of the cable. The signal to all gauges is the same but the gauge selects only the signal for its particular parameter. So you can swap connectors between two gauges and you should get the same result. There is a way to unplug the fuel sensor and short the two conductor and get the fuel level will read full or empty. I would call the customer service help line for your chassis for more details. The Freightliner customer service number is 1 800 385 4357.
