Just returned home from Gaffney, SC where I had the M3 service done on the MH. Those people are great; professional, friendly and competent. The price was right, too, less than what I was told it "could" be.

I have their phone number in front of me now to call and schedule a service. It is not time for service yet but I don't want to be in the middle of summer worrying about getting it done.

We make a stop in Gaffney every year when we head out of our home base in Florida. Great peace of mind that things are done correctly, on time and good to go for another year. The best part is when they find things and automatically fix them, when you didn't even know there was a problem.

We'll be there for our M2 on 3/26. It's a convenient trip after the Perry rally. Great folks.

We also have just returned from our M3 with Pat and the boys. Great bunch there. While we were there we had a complete shut down of our CAT engine and had to be towed from Freightliner to Greenville to the CAT shop. Pat dove right in and made sure all went well with the tow so the coach arrived safely and without damage.

KUDOS to Blanchard CAT in Greenville for working us in and getting us back on the road in a timely manner. They replaced 6 injectors and numerous other parts.

KUDOS to Davis Towing out of Greer for a great tow. Safe (we followed them in the car) and no damage.

KUDOS to Freightliner for a job well done also in a timely manner since we lost our original appointment and had to be "worked" back in.

We have used Gaffney for every required service since we purchased our Cross Country SE in June of 2003.

Pat and the maintenance crew know what they are doing and usually do it for a price much cheaper than any Freightliner or other service center.

i will be there next week for the Camp freightliner and have an appointemnt for them to do the M3 while I am there. their estimate was several hundred dollars less than the local Freightliner shop estimated, plus the local shop does not do many motorhomes.

Do your homework before you go for the M3. There is a long list of things on the M3 work order and not all may be 100% applicable to your coach. i.e. different years and drive trains may have different requirements. You will be asked to designate any items you do NOT want done, so its your call.

For example, late model Allison 3000 trannies have Transynd from the factory and get their first changeout at 36 months or 75k miles, rather than the 24/24 shown on the M3. And in an 07 coach your coolant should be fine too - just have it checked. Discuss it with the service advisor - they can call you if they find a problem.

We had the M2 done earlier this week and were very impressed with the quality of work. Had a few add ons which they fixed without any question. The quality of customer service from the front desk to the technicians to all we came in contact with is without a doubt, the best I have received in years.
Perhaps some of the body manufacturers could take lessons from Freightliner on how to treat their customers

I know this thread is a little old, but I have a question that I hope someone is willing to help with. How much do the M2 and M3 services cost? I have a new to me 2002 Winnebago Journey, and I'm not sure which of the many items in the M3 have been done. I would probably have to have most of them done. I have a feeling that I won't like the answer , but I'd rather get it done and feel good about it.

GA Cajun,

You're probably looking somewhere between $800 - $1,200 depending on what all has to be changed out. With a new dryer and transmission fluid change out this year my M2 ran right at $1,100. They took it in a 8 AM and I was on the road at 2 PM.

My last M3 performed on Sept 10, 2007 at Gaffney cost $789. I also provided my own engine oil for that price. I was not able to find anyone in the Atlanta area that could do it for that price. Most quotes where in the $1,200 to $1,400 price range.

This included:
  • Labor charges for M3 Service/No transmission service
  • Oil Filter
  • FWS
  • Air Cleaner
  • Coolant Test Strip
  • Gear Oil/rear differential
  • Adjusted Front Ride Height
  • Dessicant cartridge
  • In Line Fuel Strainer
  • Charge for shop supplies
  • 5% FCCC Owners club discount on parts and labor

A reminder if you belong to/join the FCOC ( Freightliner Chassis Owners Club) you receive a 5% discount on parts and labor.

I had an M3 done last month without the trans maintenance and my bill was about $850 if I remember right. Did have everything else done including CAC change.

While you're there if you've not gone to Camp Freightliner try to schedule them together. A great class.

Mine was (M2) just a shade over $700.00, which as stated above, is the best price in town. As a Full Timer, I prefer going to the source for the work, which in most cases is also the best quality, not to mention the customer service.
Strongly agree about attending Camp Freightliner. Attended three years ago and have it on my "bucket list" of things to do again.
