for no reason at all my air pressure gauger and/or my volt meter gauge drops to 0. A minute two or ten and it returns to normal. Have checked for loose wiring but can not find the problem. Any help?

Most likely a poor ground or an intermittent connection where the gauges panel obtains its info from the ECM connector (the J1850 bus).

I believe the gauge panel also resets if certain faults occur, but if that happens it will go through the same sequence that you see at initial start-up, e.g. zero, full gauges swing, zero again, etc. That does not match with what you describe so probably not it.

Knowing the year and make of your MH might help us to help you. Because of a speedometer failure, I was forced to learn far more about how my Freightliner chassis handles gauges than I ever wanted to know. If your problem is not a poor ground and Gary rightly suggested, there are some other places that you can look. There is a box called a VDC that actually works with the data to send it to the gauges. There is also a "spider harness" on some, including mine, that does the actual data distribution under the dash. If the connectors at either end of that harness were loose or cocked, it might give you the symptoms that you are seeing.

motoring's profile shows a 1999 Dutch Star DP, but does not specify whether it's on spartan or freightliner chassis. My freightliner chassis has on two occasions had the speedometer slowly go to zero, only to fix itself minutes later. If it is the freightliner chassis, you could try swapping the leads between the malfunction guage and another guage that works. The spider harness is all fed from one bus, and any connector will work on any guage. Of course, a bad ground or bad connector could be a problem. Let us know if you find the problem.

I had mentioned on this forum before that my FL chassis had gauge issues.. The fuel gauge does a dance once in a while where it goes from the current level to empty, sits there for a few seconds, goes to 1/4, 1/3, back to empty then settles back. Also noticed the alternator making a grinding/chattering sound last week. Of course it was 20 degrees out so I would chatter too.
