I take my coach to the Gaffney Service Center for my annual maintenance. I did have a M1 service done at the Winnemucca, NV Freightliner Service Center. Prompt, courteous, reasonably priced. No question or comment about it being a motorhome.

Just my luck, all those great shops and my choices here at home are to either drive 90 miles to one that makes you wait from 3-5 hours after your appointment time or drive 110 miles to one that takes a GPS to find it driving down 2 of the roughest Interstate (and Turnpike) roads in Oklahoma.

Wagonmaster2,
It's over 500 miles one way for me to go to Gaffney. Wouldn't darken the door the the Freightliner shop locally (Pensacola). I use the occasion to do some touring, see family and take in either the FMCA (this year) or GS rally in Perry, GA., which is somewhat on the way.

San Diego Freightliner serviced the coach and adjusted our CAT 350 engine valves. Did a fine job and were fair and professional. Joel Townsend was our service advisor.

I also have had excellent service at Diamond Service Center in Howe Texas. They are a Freightliner Service Center. Although they are mainly a Truck service center, they have a clean facility and welcome RVs.

Transwest Truck and Trailer Longmont, CO--Not very happy with their service. First try was a chassis lube. Now not many coach owners do this but I'm just retentive enough to get under the coach and look. Glad I did. They didn't hit the zerk fittings on either transmission yoke. Now I don't know how you feel about it but when I'm paying $129 an hour I want ALL of the fittings greased, not just the easy ones. Second try was a valve lash adj the original owner had neglected to do at the proper time. Supposed to take one shift (night). Got the coach back three days later. No apology. No phone calls. I had to call them every day just to find out what was going on. Just a lot of excuses. I guess I'm still looking for a service provider who really wants my business. I wish RV America here in Loveland was a recognized Frieghtliner place. Wish they were a Caterpillar place also, and an Allison place. Can't have it all I guess.

Take a vacation that include stopping by the Freightliner Service Center in Gaffney, SC. They do an excellent job servicing your coach. If you have taken the 2 day Freightliner Chassis owners class there it is well worth money and try to do both at the same time. Get your coach service while you attend the class. You get a discount at the Service Center if you are a member of the Freightliner Chassis Owners Club. The chassis owners club is a chapter of FMCA so you need to be a member of that also. That's where my coach has been serviced every year since I bought it.

Cruzan's Freightliner. They have two locations in New Jersey. The one I use is in a location way out in the middle of Cumberland County in Southern NJ. They are not fancy, but I love the work they do and their hourly rate is reasonable. The main thing I like is that most MH work is done by the same person (Rodney). I feel good knowing who is working on my rig and he can diagnose a problem almost immediately. Would recommend to all in South Jersey.

I have read many words of praise for the Gaffney SC Service Center so I phoned them to set up an initial service appointment for my RV. I had just purchased a 2006 Dynamax Dynaquest on a Freightliner M2-106 chassis. You can imagine my irritation when I was informed that they would not work on my vehicle because they "did not manufacture my chassis at their Gaffney location"! I was quite surprised. I said to them "what if I brought a Chevrolet Malibu to a Chev dealer and they told me they do not work on THAT MODEL Chevrolet!". I argued and was quite forceful but in the end they still said NO. I really am pissed at Gaffney and Freightliner in general.

The logic in that old post is just plain wrong. Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation is an entirely separate corporation from Freightliner Trucks, though both are owned by Daimler Trucks North America. As are Western Star trucks, Thomas Bus, an Detroit Diesel. Not all analogous to Chevy Malibus and Chevy Cruze, which are models within the same division of the same corporation. The two have the word Freightliner in their name, but that's about it. The motorhome chassis that FCCC makes is not at all the same as the truck chassis built by the other corporation, and you cannot expect FCCC to have parts, manuals or trained technicians for another corporation's vehicles, even if both happen to have Freightliner in their name. Nor should you expect to get "factory service" there when the FCCC factory had nothing to do with the M2 truck chassis.
