Hi there everyone,

We bought a used 2003 Allegro Bus. We absolutely love the rig. But, as with most used rigs there are a few issues you run into along the way.

One of them we didn't find until it started raining here in California. We are here at an RV park for a while. With the rig parked, and after more than a 1/4 inch of rain, we we started to hear this 'Growl' from behind the dash board. We can hear a relay firing when the sound stops and starts. The sound happens sproatically.

I tracked the sound down to the Horn relay. I've checked behind the dash and could not find any dampness. Of course this doesn't mean that something isn't getting wet on the outside. Our rig has a car horn as well as air horns all though the switch for the air-horns is turned off. Is it possible that the air horns on the top of the rig are causing a problem with some sort of water leak, or would we need to have a leak and dampness on the dash that would cause a intermittent short?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and Happy camping! - Eric and Carol -

You appear to have the ignition off when the relay is firing which is indeed strange. Very little is powered with the ignition off. I would do some investigating to see if the ignition is working properly. Also, some circuits can be incorrectly wired to the battery and always be on. It would be a good thing to do as much checking yourself as you can since it is time consuming and expensive to pay others to do it.
