Help identifying what part this is ?
This is on my 2000 Newmar Dutchstar DP. My AC compressor went and in the process of replacing it now. Got the new one all installed and lines hooked up, just need to get it recharged, put on a new belt and figure out what fluid I need to replace that drained off quite a bit when I disconnected the lines going to this piece here.
I had to disconnect one of the lines to tuck this "motor" out of the way to get room to get at my compressor. Not a hard job at all really..saved myself a 1000 bux in labor for sure. Part ran me $550 which isn't too bad, could have been worse.
Not sure what it is. Looks like hydraulic fluid that I drained...about 4 qts came out of it. What is this piece ?

Looks like it could possibly be an "add-on" unit for an auxiliary toad braking system.
Just guessing.

What does the writing on the side say? I can't make that out in the pic.

Maybe some kind of pressure regulator for the power steering system?

Mystery solved. I called Freightliner and gave them a description and part # fromit. It's a Vickers pump/selanoid it MCD-62-63. It operates both the radiator cooling fan and the power steering. Has a 12 qt capacity of Dextron III. Guess I'll drain out 8 more and finish with a fresh flush

Not 100 % correct , the solenoid , controls the two speeds of the hydraulic fan; by returning flow to the tank when not required. The default is high speed and if you disconnect the wiring when the motor is running, the fan goes to max. You'll need to know this if your fan speed control module fails , and you get an overheating condition.
Don't ask how I know this.
Internal in the reservoir is a hydraulic filter, if your doing a drain might as well go the whole 9 yards.

Yep, had one fail on our 2000 DSDP w/FL chassis. Just disconnected the wires so the fan ran at full speed, then had it fixed later.
