How hard to replace glass on tach gauge?

When I purchased a 2009 Fleetwood a month ago (on a Freightliner chassis) the glass on the tach was cracked. As a part of the deal the dealer said they would fix.

Well the part has arrived so now it's a matter of scheduling a service appointment.

And you all know what that entails!

However, I'm fairly mechanically inclined, and do a lot of work myself. Is it too difficult of a task to pull out that gauge and replace the lens to do myself? Or do I need to let them do it?

Did they manage to get the glass only , or do they have a new tach ?

Most times the gauges are sealed assemblies .
I don't know about your dash but a; Tach replacement in my dash would be a 20 min DIY.

I pulled the glass and ring off my tach to get at the fuel gauge to recalibrate it.
Behind the dash on the gauge are 2 nuts to release the clamp hold it on. Carefully pull wiring harness off too. Pull out gauge from dash. Invert gauge on soft rag. Around the ring on the back side are very small retainers, use appropriate small tools. Glass and ring come right off. Hope you got the chrome ring with the glass.

If you have never replaced the glass on a tach, then you should do it yourself because you probably have as much experience as the person that the dealer will have do it.
