Spray Simple Green solution on the inside of the radiator and blow it through using the engine cooling fan. Repeat this until the solution comes through clean. You should extend the engine blow by tube so that it doesn't allow the oil to reach the radiator. A yearly cleaning should keep the radiator clean.

Recommend Extreme Simple Green Aircraft & Precision Cleaner if you can find it as it will not harm aluminum.

I did the Simple Green thing. Not because I needed to but because I felt I should. Seemed to work okay as far as I could tell but didn't notice any difference. Fast forward 8,000 miles and I was asked at the Gaffney Service Center if I wanted my radiator steam cleaned. Always heard that wet steam was the way to go and their price was right up there as far as being reasonable. So I said 'go ahead'. Didn't notice any difference after that time either. Did have my dipstick calibrated and they wrote with paint pen and big letters near the oil fill "19 QTS OIL ONLY". They didn't want to extend the vent tube as they thought it would be too low and that it wasn't really necessary. When I have to do it again I think I will use a combination of Simple Green and rent myself a wet steamer.

I use a mixture of Dawn dishwashing detergent, spray it in let stand for 10 minutes and rinse and repeat if necessary. Regular Simple Green is corrosive to aluminum.
