Has anyone had a problem with items zeroing out on the panel. When I turn the key off and back on, the trip mileage, fuel mileage, date, etc zero out. I called FL and they said check the 5 amp fuse, which I did. It was okay. Put the fuse back in and the crazy panel worked fine for several days but now its back to zeroing out. Any thoughts?

How did you check the fuse.. Visual inspection or ohmmeter?

I've seen many a fuse that LOOKED good to the eye

But when I put the meter on it... No conduction.. This is caused by a bad solder connection between the fuse wire and the end cap on a cartridge fuse... (I've not seen this in blade fuses... but possible it is)

on blade fuses I"ve seen at least one bad socket.. In fact the owner posted photos to one of the forums I visit.

With my eyes...I checked the fuse w/ my meter and it was good. Like I said, re installed the fuse and it worked like its suppose too for several days and then back to zeroing out.

Jim, is sure sounds like a loose connection to me. I had an intermittent speedometer failure on our Freightliner (speedo needle would hiccup or just drop to zero, sometimes coming on when I bounced over the seam on a bridge. The fix was correcting a bad connector on the VIM. There was nothing visibly wrong with the either side of the connection but it was just too sloppy and occasionally breaking contact.

You might try tracing the wire back from where it connects to the Information Panel, looking carefully at each connection, not just the fuse. I know it is painful, but it may be the only way. I finally found my problem by getting it into a failing state, using an ohm meter to confirm the failure and then working each connection point until the failure went away.

just for grins
how tight was the fuse in the socket?
I would also check the power to that fuse... i would track it back to its supply just to verify its source is not corrupted through a loose fuse or connection in the interface connections point
I said in another post
my FL chassis to BOX had many connectors not snapped tight and they would wiggle enough to loose lights and cause other things to shut off or flicker, most of these were under the dash on the left forward side
