I need to have the initial service performed on my Freightliner Chassis along with some warranty work. Has anyone had experience with Tampa Truck Center in Florida? This would be the closest facility to where I live but they are not listed on the Discount Program List for FCOC members.

Would you recommend that I have the work done locally or make the trip to Gaffney? Or to some other Oasis center such as in Orlando or Ocala?

I also have a Cummins recall notice that needs to be taken care of. Can this be done at any of the Oasis Service Centers? Or at Gaffney? Or do I need to make a separate trip to a Cummins Dealer?

This is my first diesel so I am not really sure about what to do.

Thanks,

Hope this helps..

I have no personal experience at Tampa Freightliner for service however they used to be doing business as Sterling Trucks and had a pretty good reputation with people that had their coaches serviced there at that time.

They were taken over by Freightliner who controls them directly now as I understand it. I don't know if that has impacted the quality of service. I would like to think it should be better or at least the same. Freightliner's excuse for lack of service has always been that they don't have any direct control over their dealers. In this case they do.

I did order some parts from them about a year ago (that is how discovered the name and ownership change) and that was a positive experience. While talking with the parts person I found out that they have a separate section for motor homes. I am not sure what "separate" entails.

Cummins Power South in Ocala has an excellent rep. Ocala Freightliner (Oasis) is only ok - it is more of a truck service shop than RV, despite the Oasis designation.

I live near Ocala but chose to go to Gafney for my chassis service. I was headed up that general way anyway.

I would expect that most FL shops are also authorized Cummins servicers, but ask before you make an appointment.

Take the trip to Gaffney. If you time it right, you can go to Camp Freightliner while your coach is being serviced. That's what I did and it was worth the trip.!
