LBCU operation

I struggle with the operation of the
FL LBCU info center when I try to program it to display the info that I want. For instance I cannot seemed to get a simple "distance traveled" upon the screen and then be able to clear it. I find the section in the FL owners manual very confusing. Has anyone found a source of simple information on how to use this feature other that what comes in the FL manual?

resullivan,
I'd maybe get ahold of "Dutch Star Don" on this forum. He seems to have a good working knowledge of how the later LCBUs can be programmed and changed.

Check rvtechlibrary.com or search using Freightliner LCBU. I found the LCBU Manual at the rvtech site.

resullivan, I struggled with it too. My opinion is that there is a ton of information available in there and it's sort of like a book without any table of contents or index, and no headings anywhere else in the book. You just have to know what's there and where. Makes getting started a bit tough.

I've added a couple items to the pre-trip checklist and that's a long process, but can be done.

I've developed a rather confusing table of contents that helps me find and display the information I want to display or scroll to quickly. I'll try to get it later and post here. Maybe it will help some.

Freightliner Lightbar Control Unit:
1st screen: Freightliner Custom Chassis & any Error Codes

2nd: Pre-trip Checklist: multiple dc to scroll checklists, or
one lc advances to Travel Categories
(To add to checklist, hold rc (no hi-light) 5 sec.,: then select:
setup, configure checklist, dcto blank lines rcfor letters)

3rd: Establish 7 Category Travel List,
(9 category headings available: date/clock, ODO, compass/
temp, today, leg, trip, engine, transmission, generator)
(dc to a category heading to be replaced by a new one, rc &
hold 5 sec.,displays 9 category headings, dc to scroll to new
category, rc to select, (repeat to establish your 7 categorie list)

4th: Travel Categories List, now contains your 7 categories,
(3 viewed at one time),
32 different items of information are available under my list
of 7 categories, (see chart below)
dc’sscrolls & individually highlights all 7 categories of the list
rc’s on highlighted category/item scans across the item list,
stop on desired category/item & it will be the displayed item

Setup, Maintenance & Diagnostics,(No highlight& hold rc 5 sec.)

My list of 7 categories are below

Resettable Categories: are underlined
(to reset: lc on underlined categories, or item, below):
TODAY: distance, time, fuel, mpg, avg. speed, idle time
LEG: distance, time, fuel, mpg, avg. speed, idle time
TRIP: distance, time, fuel, mpg, a vg. speed, idle time
ODO: miles
ENGINE: rpm, oil psi, instant mpg, fuel used, hours, temp,
turbo psi,voltage,road speed, cruise speed
TRANS: temp, gear
GEN: hours

I started with the screens as they come up when you turn "on". You can scroll down the Pre Trip Checklist or lc (left click) to advance to the Travel List. You need to select which items you want in your Travel List, they won't all fit. Once you've done that, then dc to get different categories and rc to get the different items in the categories.
Hope this helps.

Even simpler directions:

Scroll down for different line.
Scroll right for diff. Option.
OR
Scroll down to wanted line.
Scroll left to request reset
Scroll right and hold to reset.

To exit Scroll left.

OR for s/u, diagnostics, or maint. Scoll left and hold for 3 sec.

For O.D. turn on headlites, eng off.

Without a doubt, very cool and nice "Cliffs Notes" version of how to work the LCBU. I have a question. I asked this before but did not receive an answer. You boys with this LCBU, IS there an outside temp display and, how do you get the OUTSIDE TEMP to display?

Compass/temperature is one of the 9 categories. Your LBCU may or may not have it installed. When you select your group of categories to display, select compass and it will tell you if you have that option or not.

At Camp Freightliner Mike gave a link to an app that teaches you how to use the LBCU. You can play with the functions without sitting at the wheel with the ignition on. I think it is in the notebook. I'll look later and report back unless someone beat me to it.

Update. I can't find it. It is entitled "FCCC LBCU Tutorial". Maybe call Freightliner?

I can't find it. I'd call Freightliner and use the title I gave above and tell them Mike Cody provided a link at Camp Freightliner.

PS: here's the file info that might help them find it: FCCC_Aplication_V3p1.exe. And, yes, it is "Aplication"
