M2 106 Rear Air Valve Spare Port/location

Posted in Truck Conversion and now trying Freightliner Chassis specific.

Just ordered a Roadmaster "Brakemaster" Air Proportional brake system for my tow vehicle (2006 2500HD Silverado). This system uses an air cylinder in the cab footwell that is actuated by the coach air brakes.

In the generic instructions it says to find an open port in the rear air relay valve or "t' off the existing brake line. I prefer using an adapter to tap into the plugged port that would of been used for the tandem axle units option of the chassis.

I think I may have found it and aware of the green (primary circuit) and red colored lines, but wanted to check and see if anyone has installed something similar. If not, I'll try to make an appointment to get the air line from the valve to the quick connect coupler installed.

Thanks in advance.

Ray, here is how I tapped into the air line on my Power Glide chassis, but yours should be similar. I found the line going from the ABS controller directly to the brake drum and added a T fitting with a reducer on the end for the 1/4" line to the M&G brake system. There will be two lines going to the brake drum, so make sure you don't get the one for the parking brake. I did not want to cut into any of the air supply lines, but some have done that with good results.

LtDan, Thank you. Here is a photo of my system. There seems to be a slight difference between yours and mine. So, I’m to duplicate like yours (see circle).

Ray, that's just a little different angle but that appears to be exactly the same system as mine. That should be your connection point, so good luck with your install.

Lt Dan, you were right on the money. For some reason my 2019 FL M2 106 had a plug in the valve which I took off and plumbed the air source to the Roadmaster "Brakemaster". I'm thinking if this chassis would of been optioned with tandem axles this would of been where the primary brakes would of been plumbed from. Everything checkout, had wife apply coach brakes while the I verified the Brakemaster activated the brakes on my Silverado 2500HD (2006). Not sure why photo is sideways.
