Went to the Chicago show yesterday and saw a Gulfstream Tourmaster with a 330HP Mercedes motor. The advertised numbers looked pretty good, 1000 lbs torque from 1300 to 1600 rpm, 10 mpg. Are there any other coaches using this combination today?

Yes. Some of the Tiffin motorhomes offer it.

I believe some of the Mandalay coachs offer the MB engine also.

Looks like this chassis is mated up to a coach in the 32000 lb. range. So far I've found the Gulfstream Tour Master and the Mandalay Presidio. Looked on the Tiffin web site, but couldn't find anything using the MB diesel.

The Tiffin Phaeton is available withthe Mercedes MBE 926. Tiffin makes a great coach but they're advertising and website are always way behind. Everyone get's the latest Tiffin info on the TiffinRVnetwork forum.

The owners of these RVs seem to really love them. The MBE has more get up and go and better fuel economy than the Cat. It is a no cost option and many are choosing it. ACtually, in the 2008 model year it'll be a moot point because Freightliner will drop the Cat C7 from their RV chassis and only offer MBE or Cummins. The MBE 926 will be the only engine you get in the Phaeton chassis in 2008. Actually, the 20087 model year will get the new emissions spec engines. The torque will drop to 860 ft-lbs and the horsepower will go up to 350 HP. Fuel economy should be unaffected.

They'll still offer the Cummins ISB in the smaller chassis, like the FREDs and the 400 ISL in the side radiator Freightliner XC but the rear radiator XC will no loner have the Cat.
